Getting Started with Monologue

Hey, everyone.

Justin here.

We got some great news from Avery today.

Monologue Notes has dropped.

And the best part is you can now record voice notes and have your agent interact and learn from them and take actions on your behalf based off what you say.

Just head over to Monologue to.

And then from here, you'll be able to press the download button.

They have a Mac OS version, and then they also have here want to scan the QR code and download it in the app store for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple watch.

Now, to get the Mac version, you type in your email address and it sends you the Mac app and it takes you to a page where it automatically downloads Monologue to your computer.

So you can head over to your downloads folder, open the Monologue DMG file, and then from here, you'll need to drag this file into your applications folder to get started.

I'm going to authorize with some admin privileges here and sign into the account, and then I'll copy this into the applications folder.

Now, you may be wondering what's next.

So now that this is in your applications folder, you, can access that by going to Finder and going to Applications.

And then from here, you know, scrolling until you find Monologue.

So I'm gonna press the button.

Monologue is right here.

I'm gonna drag that right into my dock.

And now I have Monologue installed on my Mac for the first time.

So I click and open it once, and that starts the process.

It asks, are you sure you want to open up Monologue?

We're going to press the blue open button.

That's just to make sure that we're fully aware that we're opening up.

Welcome to Monologue.

I love a great intro, and this is beautiful.

We get the original Macintosh, and then it zooms into the screen where you can type at the speed of talk, and you press this continue button to move forward.

So we'll press that.

Now is the time to create your account.

Now, before I create the account, I want to take you back to the Monologue page.

I'm going to hit the allow button here.

it wants to access and know that I'm accessing Safari.

I'm going to exit out of this download feature.

I want to scroll down to the pricing.

So there are multiple plans here.

You can get the free trial, which includes a thousand dictation words.

You can Pay annual for $144 a year, or you can switch over to monthly and have a monthly subscription versus an annual and pay $15 a month.

You get unlimited dictation words versus the 1000 dictation, words included on the free trial.

But then the best part is that Every subscription right here where every creates so many AI apps, as you can see here in our Doc and email, app Quora Spiral for writing with AI Sparkle for cleaning up your Mac file system, Monologue, which we're exploring today and improve for being able to check out, you know, writing with agents.

So we've got some cool apps.

so I'm going to go back to the Monologue app here.

I'm going to sign in with my Every subscription because, because I've got that.

So I'm going to click sign in with every.

I just paid.

It's 30 bucks, not 20 bucks, actually.

30 bucks a month.

I'm going to hit Allow and then I'm going to go over here.

and now it's just logging me into the app and I'm good to go.

I don't have to, you know, pay a separate, you know, 15amonth.

I've got my every subscription.

I can now hit Allow, and then that will allow Monologue to use my microphone.

Then I can hit Allow and it's going to open up system settings here.

I'm going to have to authorize with my admin password.

but it wants to make sure that we can allow, Monologue to paste into our computer.

So we'll switch that on.

We'll authorize with our password, our finger here and then we are good to go there.

and now we will allow Monologue to use screen context.

This is a key feature.

The allows it to know what's on the screen and then, make sure that it's writing the proper stuff.

So once us to quit and reopen.

We can quit and reopen.

We just press the blue button.

and then we can also just open the app right back up by clicking on it.

We get the lovely intro.

Welcome to Monologue again, made by Every.

and it starts our setup process again.

So type at the speed of talk.

We hit Continue.

We have authorized everything.

We've got three green check boxes here.

We can hit the continue button.

And now it wants us to check the microphone, say something and do you see the wave reacting?

So you can see that, right now I'm talking and the wave is reacting and when I stop talking, it stops moving.

Pretty cool.

All right, now we're going to go ahead and hit continue.

we'll press the continue button once we can select our color of the microphone.

We've got the default, we've got this color right here.

We've got this color.

Let's see.

I'm going to pick the blue, one right here and then we'll press continue.

And now let's check the keyboard shortcut.

So the option key is the shortcut to activate monologue.

So we'll press option and shortcut is verified.

We're good to go there.

This is lovely software.

We'll hit the continue button.

I'm going to close out this window right here for system preferences.

We're going to hit allow on this and switch back to the monologue app.

So we'll click on monologue.

All right, Dictate your first monologue.

So we'll just hold down the option key.

It wants us to allow for system preferences here.

So we'll allow monologue to work and then we'll go back and hold down.

Now if you take a look in the bottom right corner you can see monologue is listening in the bottom right.

I let go of the option button and then I press command V and it pastes that into the box there.

so I can continue dictating here.

I can hold down option.

Alright, so I can hit continue.

I've made my first monologue and now I can go hands free.

So while in the previous example I had to hold down the option key, sometimes you have a lot to say.

You don't want to hold it down all the time.

Well, you can press the right option key twice and it will just stay on and you don't have to hold it down all the time.

So we press it twice.

Hey mom, I'm trying out this app called monologue.

It does incredible voice to text transcription and formats my messages based on context.

You're going to love it.

All right then I go ahead and press option when I'm done and it pastes it in right there.

This is awesome.

so all you have to do is just double tap or double press the option to go hands free and we are good to go there.

We'll hit the continue button.

And now it asks us how do you want Monologue to run?

So you can do it remote, which is recommended for most users.

The data isn't saved on their servers, but it is know in the cloud, transcription instantly.

It works on all Mac models and it supports over 100 languages.

Or you can do local models where it only works on your computer.

It's 100% on your Mac.

For privacy focused users, there's no Internet needed.

The audio never leaves your device.

But that's only available for those that have series and M1, 2, 3 or 4 or 5 chip in their Mac.

With Apple Silicon, it only supports about 25 languages.

So I'll go ahead and continue with the remote model.

And here we are.

Monologue notes Capture, transcribe and summarize meetings, calls and ideas.

It syncs across all your devices.

You get summaries, full transcripts, action items, search across all notes, share and export.

And the key feature today is the mcp, the command line interface, CLI and API support.

so now you have on your Apple Watch and your iPad and your Mac and your iPhone, you can go ahead and continue.

Your subscription is active through every and it's going to continue running in the background.

And then I can just press the right option key when I'm ready to speak and it will start recording and then transcribing.

I can open up my dashboard here and I've got my home, where I can see my stats, my top sources, how active I am with Monologue, my notes and more.

So that is a quick tutorial on how you get started here with Monologue, which is super exciting.

You can get started by downloading the app today, logging in, setting up a subscription and you know, going through the demo and then next time you want to record a note you just press the option button and you are good to go.

And you can have it on your phone, watch and iPad as well.

and that's just the start because as we can see here, when we connect our MCP to Claude, you're able to have your agents basically interact with all your notes.

So one example is when this person leaves the house, they hit record, start thinking out loud and then they get back to the desktop and they say, pull up my last monologue and start building what I ideated in a voice message.

And that is really cool.

I think this is just the start of being able to personally interact with your agents that are on the computer, being able to record monologues and then send those to your agents and have them do things on your behalf.

It's a very special time.
